The Philosophy of Point House Residential Care Home
The philosophy of Point House residential care home is to provide a safe structured environment which caters for individual service users, their emotional, physical and intellectual needs, whilst preserving their dignity and improving the quality of their lives, irrespective of race, religion or sexual preference.
To provide a well-balanced, healthy and varied diet, with personal preference taken into account.
To encourage each service user to be as independent as possible, but give guidance and assistance wherever necessary and encourage them to live life to the best of their capabilities.
The home will treat each service user as an individual member of society, and as such, will respect their wishes and choices including the making of informed choices, and to take reasonable risks in all areas of their life.
All service users will be supported in their choice of beliefs or lifestyle.
Point House will provide each individual service user with a care plan, a service user guide and our contract.
All staff are trained to ensure that they are able to cope with the needs of all service users confidently and competently.
To provide a quiet area, which service users can use to discuss any issues with their family, friends or health care professionals in private.
To ensure that all equipment at Point House is kept in a safe and usable condition.

To provide quality care services for service users with learning disabilities in a clean, safe and friendly environment ensuring privacy and dignity are respected at all times. To treat every service user as an individual and ensure they are given the correct amount of care suited to their needs.
Aims & objectives
To ensure that each service users privacy and dignity are respected at all times and to promote a feeling of individuality and responsibility with regard to property and appearance.
To provide each service user with a key worker who will ensure that all aspects of their lives that may cause concern are dealt with promptly and to their satisfaction.
To assist service users to have as many opportunities as possible to meet and form relationships with people other than those who are providing a service to them.
To make sure all care managers, carers and parents are fully involved inservice decisions (when appropriate). To live in an appropriate environment of their choice.
To provide each service user access to medical care, dental care, chiropody, optician, education, guidance and tuition, and to encourage them to live in an appropriate environment of their choice.
To provide equal opportunities regardless of race, gender or sexual preference.
