Care Assistant requirements;-

All staff must be trained to minimum level 2 NVQ as required by Government requirements, but we will train you if you do not have this qualification. (Terms & conditions apply)

Purpose of Position:
To support and care for Service-Users in a conscientious manner, and to assist management and fellow members of the staff team in the efficient running of the Home.

Principle Responsibilities:
To report to senior or manager all reports, day / evening / night 
To read and understand the aims and objectives of Point House
To understand the philosophy of this company

Health & Safety at Work Act:        
You must familiarise yourself with and conform to the Health & Safety Programme at all times
You must observe all safety rules including the appropriate use of necessary safety equipment, clothing and devices
You must report all accidents and/or damage to management at the earliest opportunity, whether or not a person is injured
You must report all hazards to management and are expected to make any suggestions you believe necessary to improve Health &Safety at work.
 
Summary of main purpose for Care Assistant
To assist in providing the highest standard of professional support in the creation of an environment that will enable each person living and working in that environment to achieve his or her maximum potential. Working with adults with learning difficulties & challenging behaviour.

  • Job description main duties and responsibilities;
    To enable people to live as independently as their disability allows, retaining their individuality and dignity, offering particular support to those with special needs
    To offer support in the meeting of physical needs, e.g. washing, bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding and mobility etc. as part of the individual needs within a personal plan and full risk assessments
    To offer stimulation and motivation through conversation and social activity and to encourage the service user to see and grasp wider opportunities for both physical and mental self- fulfilment.
    To establish with people a relationship of mutual trust and respect with understanding and tolerance in relation to the wider variety of their personal needs and request for assistance.
    To remain professional in all situations maintaining confidentiality at all times, only discussing personal matters in agreement with the person concerned and also in approved settings.
    To assist people, when required, with their personal shopping and other outings as planned with the knowledge of senior staff on duty.
    To assist with serving meals, cooking and developing the individual living skills.
    To assist where it is necessary in keeping accommodation clean and tidy including bedrooms bathrooms and communal areas.
    To report immediately to the most senior member of staff on duty, they will report to the home manager.
    Any changes in a service users physical, emotional or behavioural condition
    Any accident or unusual incident
    Any serious health problems that may arise.
    Any matter of concern expressed by a service user whether: physical, sexual, financial, emotional or spiritual needs.
    To be aware of the legislation, regulations and policy’s procedures affecting the delivery of the service. Some of theses will include first aid, hygiene, fire safety precautions, health and safety, full induction training requirements. 
    The ability to respond effectively in any emergency. 
    To be trained in line with these regulations.
    Keep the homes outside doors locked at all times to stop anybody that does not live at Point House from walking into the building;
    You will protect all service users from abuse.
    To carry out such tasks as may be required to maintain the efficiency of the service provided within the remit of the job.
    Participate and contribute to the key working system, ensuring that CSCI standards are maintained.
    Attend staff meetings as required, and to ensure that personal capabilities and competencies are maintained through the supervision and appraisal systems, along with agreed training.
    Attend meetings of people using our services as required, and to ensure that their point of view is listened to and, where appropriate, acted upon. (care plan)
    To work alongside other members of staff to ensure you work as part of a team helping each other out, as and when necessary, never leave jobs to other staff members.
    Contribute to the assessment of service user’s care plans / progress reports, keep updating client’s appointments (i.e.) GP / dental / chiropody. 
    To maintain at all times working at a professional level and be on duty at the right time and suitably dressed.
