The working shift pattern we have going at present is:-
WEEK 1
Monday 7.00am to 4.00pm - care
Wednesday 4.00pm to 10.00pm - care
Friday 7.00am to 4.00pm - care
WEEK 2
Monday 7.00am to 4.00pm - care
Friday 7.00am to 4.00pm - care
Saturday 7.00am to 4.00pm - care
Sunday 7.00am to 4.00pm - care
Pay Rate Starts at £6.00 per hour - for immediate start
Must be:
- Appointed new staff Must have a strong personality, to be flexible and be able to come in to work at short notice.
- Remember that Point House is opened 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; working over Christmas, New Year, bank holidays and weekends
- Be prepared to work unsociable hours, be able to take constructive criticism.
- To be open minded with a good sense of humour, come up with good ideas.
- Good communication skills.
- Enthusiasm / kind & caring.
- Must be very understanding, but not to get emotionally attached with any service user, and to be professional at all times.
- To be committed to equal opportunities.
Desirable:
- Experience of similar work, & Awareness of the needs for people with learning difficulties & challenging behaviour. To give support with physical, sexual, financial, emotional or spiritual needs.
- Vehicle driver and hold a clean driving license

Point-House Job description Main duties and responsibilities
1. To enable people to live as independently as their disability allows, retaining their individuality and dignity, offering particular support to those with special needs.
2. To offer support in the meeting of physical needs, e.g. washing, bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding and mobility etc as part of the individual needs within a personal plan and full risk assessments. taking clients to GP appointments or any health appointments
3. To offer stimulation and motivation through conversation and social activity and to encourage the service user to see and grasp wider opportunities for both physical and mental self- fulfilment.
4. To establish with people a relationship of mutual trust and respect with understanding and tolerance in relation to the wider variety of their personal needs and request for assistance.
5. To remain professional in all situations maintaining confidentiality at all times, only discussing personal matters in agreement with the person concerned and also in approved settings.
6. To help clients get around (ie) with walking aids, or to push clients in wheelchairs when required, helping with their personal shopping and other outings as planned (day-services) with the knowledge of day services co-ordinator & senior staff on duty. Taking clients out on trips in the company car, travel by bus or train or just walks, make sure that you follow all risk assessments, read all policy's.
7. To assist with serving meals, cooking and developing the individual living skills.
8. To assist where it is necessary in keeping accommodation clean and tidy including bedrooms bathrooms and communal areas.
9. To report immediately to the most senior member of staff on duty, they will report to the home manager.
- Any changes in a service users physical, emotional or behavioural condition
- Any accident or unusual incident
- Any serious health problems that may arise.
- Any matter of concern expressed by a service user whether: physical, sexual, financial, emotional or spiritual needs.
10. To be aware of the legislation, regulations and policy's procedures affecting the delivery of the service. Some of theses will include first aid, hygiene, fire safety precautions, health and safety, full induction training requirements. The ability to respond effectively in any emergency. To be trained in line with these regulations. Keep the homes out side doors locked at all times to stop anybody that does not live at point house from walking into the building; you will protect all service users from abuse.
11. To carry out such tasks as may be required to maintain the efficiency of the service provided within the remit of the job.
12. Participate and contribute to the key working system, ensuring that CQC standards are maintained. (Care Quality Commission)
13. Attend staff meetings as required, and to ensure that personal capabilities and competencies are maintained through the supervision and appraisal systems, along with agreed training.
14. Attend meetings of people using our services as required, and to ensure that their point of view is listened to and, where appropriate, acted upon. (care plan)
15. To work alongside other members of staff to ensure you work as part of a team helping each other out, as and when necessary, never leave jobs to other staff members.
16. Contribute to the assessment of service user's care plans / progress reports, keep updating client's appointments (ie) GP / dental / chiropody.
17. To maintain at all times working at a professional level and be on duty at the right time and suitably dressed.
Summary of main purpose for Care Assistant
To assist in providing the highest standard of professional support in the creation of an environment that will enable each person living and working in that environment to achieve his or her maximum potential. Working with Adults with Learning Difficulties some clients may have Challenging Behaviour, ages of 18-65. Each new member of staff will be taken through a full induction programme "skills for care" on completion new members of staff will gain a certificate. All staff will be closely supervised.
