Point House was opened in 1980 initially to three adults with learning difficulties with the capacity to accommodate eight adults. In 1985 the property was extended to include 12 new rooms and Point House is currently registered to take 22 people. We have 20 single rooms and one double room which could accommodate a couple or siblings.
We have always been a family run business with an emphasis on being homely rather than institutionalised. The home has a relaxed atmosphere and is not your run of the mill residential home! "Far from that"
We have lots of entertainment that are from outside companies and our clients just love it!!
Since opening Point House we have strived to move with the times, as many things have changed!! We were inspected by CSCI who have now given way to CQC and have always upheld all standards to the best of our ability. Our last two inspection reports have declared us as a two star home - good service!! As well as offering support in a residential setting we now also provide a comprehensive day care package and life skills programme for service users within the home and also welcome service users from outside agencies. Many of our service users now come to us with a view to living independently at some point in the future and use our services to enable that to happen.
We always strive to provide the highest possible level of care & support for our service-users, who currently range from 18 to 80 years in age. To maintain our high level of care & support, we have a comprehensive list of aims and objectives which we pride ourselves in adhering to.
Our aim is support our service users to become as independent as possible and achieve maximum potential in all areas of daily living. We have successfully assisted many past clients on their way to independent living and supported living through our support and the life skills packages designed specifically for them.
Each service-user upon arrival has a professional assessment of their degree of disability, difficulties or behaviour, and a person centred care plan is then made for them. Care plans are reviewed on a regular basis to reflect changing needs of our service users. All new service users are given a senior member of staff as a key worker in the first instance and after the initial settling in period of a month will choose their own key worker.
Our basic care and accommodation package starts from £89.80 per day and is reviewed every April (costs may change will the rate of inflation). Care package costs will vary depending on Services users' individual needs.
Two of our clients have PCs in their own bedrooms with internet & their own email access; one of our clients emails family in Australia and keeps in regular contact. We also have another PC with internet access in the main lounge; all clients can use this.
